Wow Auction House Gold Guide

Tip for Beginners: Buying Low and Selling Normal

The world of warcraft auction house is cyclical in nature. If you
were to take an item you like to buy, let's say infinite dust, and
write down every day the average price of infinite dust for a week
you would notice some real changes in value from day to day. Some
days the dust might be 4 gold, other times it might be 3 gold.

Auctioneer basically does this calculation for you each time it
scans and then tells you the average value. It's your job to decide
when to sell the item however, so you're going to want to know when
infinite dusts get lower and when they get higher throughout the
week.

There are many factors for deciding why items go up in value, take
infinite dust for example. Patch notes could make more infinite
dust appear more frequently from disenchanting (which a recent
patch did) thus dropping the value almost in half overnight.

Weekly factors include raid nights, tuesdays when most pvpers get
arena gear, weekends when more players are on, etc. You will want to
study these factors and how they affect the items you wish to buy
in order to determine when best to sell your items.

Remember, people don't want to buy overly priced goods, so what you
are looking to do is buy your items at low values and then sell
them back at what people expect to pay for them.

I call this buying low and selling normal, and it sets you apart
from the casual auction house user who simply assumes that today's
price is everyday's price.

Tip for Advanced Players: Feast of Winter Veil

The feast of Winter's Veil is a great example of how you can buy
stuff out low and then sell for normal values later on. The
seasonal items in wow always become dirt cheap when the season is
not going on and then become incredible money makers once players
addicted to instant gratification want their achievements NOW.

Here are the two items you will profit most from during winter's veil:

Wool Cloth - Used to create bolts which are then essential
materials for the creation of festive garments. Last week I showed
you the cheapest way to get wool cloth (the alliance auction
house).

Small Eggs - Easily farmed just south of Silvermoon from the flying
dragons there, these eggs sell for much more during the holiday
season because of the gingerbread cookie recipe. These cookies also
take ice cold milk which you can buy from the vendor and resell at
a small markup to the really lazy achievement hunters.

Start farming now and you'll be ready for the initial rush of
buyers at the start of the holiday season. Add the eggs and cloth
to your snatch lists now and start buying in preparation for some
easy gold during the Christmas season.
